Lammas / Lughnasadh 2009: August 6th - that is to treat it as a lunar / moveable festival rather than a fixed solar cross-quarter which tends to the way of things these days in the Wiccan / pagan community.

I've baked some bread this morning...all done by hand not by machine with a little help from Harry. It's turned out good too. The apple cake is in the oven baking. Wishing everyone Lammas blessings.

Are there any traditional songs mentioning Lammas, other than

Searching For Lammas

Are You Washed In The Blood Of The Lammas?

or the ever-popular

Who put the bomp in the bomp, bomp she bomp
And who put the Lammas in the Ram-a-Lammas Ding Dong?
Who was that ma-a-an? I'd like to shake his hand
He made my baby fall in love with me....?

Maybe "I Left My Heart in Lammasery?" (Should be 2Ls, though:-)

A one L Lamas is TWO priests.
A two-l Llamas, several beasts.
Two Ms, one L, is just a season;
To go beyond that has no reason.
But some would swear on their pajamas
We've never had a four-L lama,
While others cry with indignation,
"There is - a largish conflagration!"
