ABC Notation for Folk Songs

There is at least one great site that I know of for tunes that have been notated in ABC notation. This site is terrific. And it has listed some great resources for developing your ABC skills.

BUT - I wonder; is there a similar site that focuses on Folk tunes? I'm especially interested in early American folk tunes in ABC, fiddle tunes, banjo tunes, old songs ...

Does anyone know? I've looked but had no luck.

If the numachi site is still up it will present any tune in the DT in ABC. I think....yes, it does.

The ABC homepage www.abcnotation.com (or www.abcnotation.co.uk) has a tunefinder which will probably supersede JC's.

thesession.com has a parochially Irish slant which makes it pretty useless for what you're after.

Probably your best bet is to fire off a query at a few search engines for something you know will be on any site rrelated to your interests - say, for old-time fiddle, "Blackberry Blossom". Then look round the sites that the search engines list as having that tune and see which ones have the stuff you want presented in the way you want.

I have some American tunes on my site that you won't find elsewhere, but that's not one of my main interests.

Um, concertina.net was the site that Jed referenced in his second sentence.

Also worth mentioning is the other ABC search engine: www.folktunefinder.com
Has some nice features including search by first notes of the tune (if you know a piano keyboard you can click on the keys of a keyboard graphic to enter them) and a "find similar tunes" function which is useful as long as you don't expect too much from it.
