15 Aug 09 - 07:13 AM (#2700814) Subject: ***Orff*** Instruments For Sale.... From: Bobert Any Orffers out there??? The P-Vine has finally decided that after a life time of teaching Orff that she won't be doing it anymore and thus... ...the entire collection must go!!! They are all top-of-the-line, most German made and all in very good condtion... Included are Sonor Bass Xylophone (GBKX 100), Sonor Bass Metallophone (GBKM 10), and assortment of glockenspiels and dozens of unpitched percussion istruments... If you have, or know of anyone who has an interest then let me know either on this thread or PM and we can discuss details... Bobert |

15 Aug 09 - 11:59 AM (#2700922) Subject: RE: ***Orff*** Instruments For Sale.... From: Willie-O Huh. I took Orff lessons when I was a kid for a couple of years--it was a great introduction to making music in groups. Shame the program hasn't caught on widely, like...Suzuki? No doubt due to its not having the pitch of "developing your 3-year-old's genius potential" (I know that's not what Suzuki's supposed to be about, but its the image that counts.) You could PM me the list & prices... W-O |

16 Aug 09 - 09:07 AM (#2701516) Subject: RE: ***Orff*** Instruments For Sale.... From: Bobert They ain't cheap, Willie-O... You still want the list??? BTW, the P-Vine had no trouble finding lots of parents in NoVa who not only knew about Orff but wanted their kids to take the classes... At one point she had over a 100 students at 5 different schools and community centers... We can't go back to Loudoun County and walk around without one of her former students coming up to her and telling her what it meant to them... Many went on with their music and several of the boys ended up in bands... B~ |
16 Aug 09 - 12:10 PM (#2701606) Subject: RE: ***Orff*** Instruments For Sale.... From: Willie-O Bobert, I googled Sonor Bass Xylophones and yeah, they're not at all inexpensive are they! It's not for myself I'm interested, but I'd be curious as to what an aspiring Orff teacher could expect to spend when starting out. I know a couple of people hereabouts who have tried starting "Music for young children" programs and they haven't seemed to catch on...maybe they'd be interested in trying the Orff way. W-O |

From: GUEST,BV Colorado Teacher I'd love to know if your instruments, particularly your bass, are stil for sale, and if so, for how much. I teach a small class through our town's recreation department and would love to invest in one (I have an alto and an alto glock right now). If you could let me know, that would be fantastic. Thanks! |
04 Sep 09 - 01:09 PM (#2716229) Subject: RE: ***Orff*** Instruments For Sale.... From: Bobert First of all, Wiilie-O, if ya' buy everything new that the P-Vine used when she was teaching, the cost would run upwards of $7500... Now the meat 'n taters of Orff instruments are the bass Xtylophone and the bass Matallephone... What the P-Vine has in that reagrds are: 1. Sonor Bass Xylophone GBKX100 West Music price new $1360 The P-Vine's price $900 for heres which is in excellent condition 2. Sonor Bass Matallophone GBKM10 West Music Price $1050 The P-Vine's Price $750 in excellent condition She has the full compliment of wood blocks chimes, glockenspeils, drums and variou other unpitcheed percussion things which are also available which are not as expensive... 04 Sep 09 - 04:31 PM (#2716365) Subject: RE: ***Orff*** Instruments For Sale.... From: GUEST,leeneia Here's a plug. A friend of mine who taught music in schools once said, 'A child will be good in school all day if it means his name will be put into a hat and could be drawn out to play the xylophone.' Well worth the money! |
04 Sep 09 - 07:20 PM (#2716470) Subject: RE: ***Orff*** Instruments For Sale.... From: Bobert Goes well beyond just the xylophone, leenia... To see kids playin' all the instruments together and sounding purdy darned good with no foraml training and no music theory is special... At one point the P-Vine had over a hundred kids taking Orff at 5 different schools and community centers and they loved it... Weren't any absences... Funny thing is that every time we go back to NoVa she'll run into one of her former kids and they'll run up to her and give her a hug... Then lots of time they will tell her what they have been doing musically since... Lots of the boys end up playin' in rock 'n roll bands in their teens... But, yeah, the xylophone is the big dude... 06 Nov 09 - 08:05 AM (#2760757) Subject: RE: ***Orff*** Instruments For Sale....(Virginia, USA) From: Bobert Sorry, but the P-Vine has it in her mind that she is going to sell them... During her career as a music teacher she donated countless hours of Orff instruction, leading childrens choirs, etc. and now that she is only getting a pitance from Social Security she allready has the money she'll get from the instruments earmarked... BTW, your friend is doing a world of good... I have donated several valuable instruments to good causes over the years but that's me... Heck, if it were up to me I'd do the same with the P-Vine's but they aren't mine to donate... B~ |
