I know and sing this song, but what I want is the history, supposed to be a true event, so:

When did it happen ?
Who did it happen to?

and any other interesting facts you may know, many thanks to our vastly intelligent readers !!!

Jo

Jo-

You might also visit John Warner's website and consult his CD notes. John always has a good sense of what he is composing and singing.

Oh, and here's a link to Warner's website: Click here for website!

Anderson's Coast is, indeed, a fine ballad.

Cheerily,

Sad to say, there is a lot of development planned to happen in the area that is Anderson's coast so the reality might be a bit different from the images the ballad evokes. In the words of another well known bard:

"Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot"

Cheers,

Andrez

Jo, more of the history is included in this thread
Note that Eileen Ann Moore has written an additional verse which completes the story, that is, the shipwrecked convicts rescued a lost explorer and were pardoned. The explorer was Pawe³ Edmund Strzelecki. Some of his history is on wikipedia which will give you a date, but sadly no mention of the Anderson's coast story.
