07 Nov 96 - 09:01 PM (#312) Subject: Any info about old SKIER song From: We had the song back in the early 70's but I think it's older than that. It was about a skier who kept having run-ins with the lift tower. I don't remember much, but at one point the skier finds himself on a racing course "...had a flag in each hand when I got to the second and from there on in I picked that course as clean as a whistle..." "...and there's that damn lift tower again...". Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

My first thought was, it could be a song from Bob Gibson's Ski Songs LP, Elektra 1959. But I think the real answer is on the following: THE COTTON' PICKIN' LIFT TOWER AND OTHER SKIING SONGS | Ray Conrad, Prestige International LP, sometime in the 1960s. It's a rarity, but may be available on EBay. See cover (it'll chill yer skier's bones) reproduced at: http://vinyloddities.blogspot.com/2006/01/cotton-pickin-lift-tower-and-other.html Good hunting! And make sure to miss that lift tower on the way down. Bob |
