He was a big man (in many ways) in longsword circles, founder of the magazine Rattle up my Boys and undertook a tremendous amount of research into this dance form both in Britain and Europe. Very very supportive when Wype Doles were developing their version of the Helmsley dance. His knowledge and skills will be sadly missed. "we will do our best and the best can do no more" Brian |

He helped many sides to perfect their own style and gave of his time willingly and freely. A fountain of knowlege and interesting annecdotes. He taught us (Bishop Gundulphs) Bellerby & Helmsley dances and gave loads of encouragement. A very nice man. Condolences to his family and his many friends. Ken. |

Very affable, approachable, and a great supporter of the folk movement and contributor to TYKES NEWS. I knew nothing of his more recent activities or whereabouts, but one always felt that whereever he was, he would be in the thick of some folk related activity. Trevor along with the late Renaat Van Cranebrooke were the ones who had the idea of having a Sword Spectacular , the original intended venue was to be in Antwerpen. Goathland Plough Stots offer there sincere condolences to Elaine and the family, hopefully he and Renaat are now locked in an intense sword dance debate as in years gone by. |

It was his idea to rename it from the Whitby Folk Festival and thus establish that was what it should be. Although only able to devote a couple of years fully to the event he helped lay the basis for the huge expansion of workshops etc. In later years he was always enthusiastically supportive. |

Thank you for all your kind words. You will have a chance to view some of Trevor's work in an archive exhibition called 'Rattle up My boys' in Sheffield from 31st May to 31st June 2014. We are holding a 'exhibition launch' event on Sat 31st May, 11am - midnight to celebrate the longsword tradition and the part Trevor played in it. The exhibition is on loan from the Museum of British Folklore where it had previously been exhibited at Cecil Sharpe House.
