BS: Home remedy and Pimm's No. 1

Hi gang! I've been occupied elsewhen for a while and this discovery brought me back to share it with you. To wit:

I was listening to a radio program about home remedies the other day. I can't recall who it was or the program name as this is not my usual bill of fare for listening. Nonetheless, the cure was for joint pain and supposedly there is some clinical evidence for the following.

Take a box of golden raisins (no other) and empty it into a bowl of sufficient capacity and cover with a good quality clear gin and let it sit exposed to the air for five days. Turn the fruit over once or twice a day and make sure it stay wet as the liquid slowly evaporates. You should cover it with cheese cloth or a towel to keep out unwanted imbibers of the six-legged variety. Or hide it altogether from the two-legged variety.

After five days you can begin to eat about nine raisins a day. They will have plumped up from the bath but contain very little alcohol. Nine raisins is about a rounded teaspoonful. In two to four weeks you should see a marked change for the better in joint pain. This is supposed to be true for about 80% of folks. I've just started so I will let you know in a couple of weeks if it has helped. If it doesn't help your joint pains, not to worry, these are very delicious little raisins now with an interesting flavor.

Now here's the fun part. After the five day extraction process there was still quite a bit of liquor in the bottom of the bowl. I got a kitchen funnel and quartered a round paper coffee filter and and wetted it in the funnel. I mean, why waste anything, right??! I filtered the brownish liquid and got about 4 ounces of raisin extract. Is it ever good! Now where had I tasted something like this before? The color was awfully familiar too. Hmmm. I bet this would be really good with some 7up or ginger ale and !* the lights went on and I got out a bottle of Pimm's No. 1. Very similar in taste but I think the home made concoction is superior. If any of you try this let know what you think here.

I've also heard of that remedy using dried cherries instead of raisins..either way sounds delicious to me!

I'm often making sloe & or damson gin/vodka around autumn time.

Its usually ready for around Christmas.

As well as adding festive cheer, its very good & effective balm for sore throats & chesty coughs
