I have just been informed that John Elliott of Birtley died on Friday 18th September following a long illness. A most popular figure in the North East and another member of that great singing family gone. RIP
(Apologies - tried to post this yeasterday without success)

Very Sad news, Both John and Pete Elliott sang the songs of their father Jack with much so fun and enjoyment it was a pleasure to hear them and their sister Doreen Henderson perform. I didn't get to Birtley much since the 70's but when I did there was always a warm welcome from John, he was such a great person to know.

I'm very sorry to hear that. John was a grand man with a grand sense of humour. We had some great sessions years ago at Holmfirth and Sutton Bonington and quite a few other places. As Dave says, another member of an important singing family gone to the grave.

So sad to hear this news although it was not unexpected,

I saw Doreen and Brian at Saltburn FF and they said then that John was very poorly.

All the Elliott's were very supportive of everything Firm Friends did and it was a joy to have them at the singers weekend that I used to run.

My thoughts are with Pam and the family.

Been singing "Elliot" songs since I was 16 and started "going to Birtley" in 1966. Don't get back to the club much now just on holidays if we are in Durham on a Wednesday. I always think of John when I sing the £20 dog. Our thoughts are with all of the remaining family.

Sad news. All the Elliotts were/are such lovely people as well as fine singers, and the loss of yet another is very distressing.

SO sorry to hear this news via a telephone call from Bob Davenport. Nice man always treasured in my memory. He along with the rest of the family gave us such a wonderful welcome when we paid a visit from Ireland some time ago. My thoughts are with the entire family at this time.
