Launch Concert for GP's new album-8 Nov (free)

Subject: 8-11-09Launch Concert for GP's new album
From: George Papavgeris

You are invited to join me in a launch concert to celebrate the release of 'Looking Both Ways' (WGS369CD), my 8th album, on the WildGoose label. Participating in the concert will be all contributors to the album: Vicky Swan on double bass, nyckelharpa & whistle, Jonny Dyer on guitar & accordion, Paul Sartin on fiddle, oboe & Cor Anglais, Pete Flood on an extraordinary selection of percussion instruments and the ethereal Tindalls on vocals. And Mr WildGoose himself, Doug Bailey, who recorded and mastered the album will be providing the sound.

The date:         Sunday 8th November 2009
The time:         7:00pm (doors & bar open at 6:30) – expected finish 10:15pm
The venue:      The hall of Pinner Green Social Club, Rickmansworth Road, Pinner, Middlesex HA5 3TJ(the venue of Herga Folk Club)

Best of all, in the interests of doing my bit to help the country recover from the recession, attendance to the concert will be free. Yes, you read right, no, I haven't lost my marbles, neither have I won the Euromillions. I would just love to see you there.

The hall can easily accommodate 100+ but if you want to be guaranteed a seat I would appreciate either an email to George'sEmail or a phone call to 07747-768868 with the names of prospective attendees – this will help us also with the Club's administration, as we need to keep a record for HSE reasons on the night.

I am very excited about both the album, which I believe is my best to date, and equally about the concert itself as it will be the first time that I will have the chance to play live with all these superb musicians and singers. Come and share the evening with us!

Well good luck for the event, and congrats on the album....but I must admit when I saw the thread title I thought the brief career of The GP's had started again (Richard Thompson, Ralph McTell, and Dave's Pegg and Mattacks)!

53 and rising with 2 weeks to go. This does not include 5 "possibles". To allow a cafe-setup with tables (as opposed to rows of seats), and to give adequate space for the 9 performers and assortment of instruments we propose to limit the number to 80.
That leaves 22 free places still.

68 and still rising. We'll cap at 80 so that we can have a cafe-style sitting rather than rows of seats.

Looking forward to it, I gather everyone's been practicing hard!
Everyone else, that is... shame on me.

Just creep in through the folding doors from the main bar bar if needs be !!

Should be a storm

I say, George old boy, will manes be on seats to avoid us plebs squabbling and scrambling , I did request front row after all and I was always sat at the front in class to stop me messing about.

Will have taken my medication before leaving home so you should be safe.

All the best.

You can put your mane where you like, Breezy. But please no messes!
I would have put names on the seats but I can't afford the usherettes - or are you offering?

I just had an image of you as an usherette and it gave me the shivers...

Knackered but happy, thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thanks to all who came to fill the hall, for their kind words of support and their choruses. It was meant to be a celebration party, and it was all that and more, with several special moments along the way.

Thanks.
