Contradictory as in inconsistent! Paul Morley seemed to be agreeing with Johnny Marr when he criticized the "finger in the ear brigade", but at the same time championed Martin Carthy. But both Morley's and Marr's admission that they were both big fans of Marc Bolan's "mystical" approach to folk didn't impress me.

Not quite sure what he was on when he wrote this, but I sort of like the idea of "Who Knows Where The Time Goes" as the National Anthem!

What is it with these journalists? First Mark Kermode, now Paul Morley. All we need now is Julie Burchill embracing folk......
