Sean-

Do tell us more about this sea music group. I'm only familiar with them for their fine singing of "Tramps (Chantey for Steam)" by Ron Baxter.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Powerful 4 part harmony group. Good to see them doing some club bookings at last. Especially up here.

To put the record straight - two of the four Helen Pitt and Steve Dawes live "up ere" (Norton) and perform as a duo. The other two, also a duo "Locktup Together", come from Lancashire. All talented performers in their own right they make a formidable foursome.

And evidently from the website link "Locktup Together" includes Chris and Ian Lock.

I do have to purchase one of their CD's, given that I reside in one of England's former colonies.

Can I just confirm that they are appearing 30th Oct 2009, not 2010 as 1st post suggests? (!) (otherwise it's seems a long time to wait for the next guests at the club!)

The Pot House is a great club with a very enthusiastic audience, so it should be a fun night.

Wow Sean, thats a surprise!!
We thought we had lots of time to practice, now we find we only have just over a week!!
Come along and join us folks and we will see if we can loosen up some vocal chords -
As AW says it is a great club.

Just to echo Ian's and Helen's comments... we're really looking forward to this one. It has a special significance for me since I'm the one member of the group who grew up in Hartlepool (to the extent that I ever actually grew up!) and the Pot House figured in my late teenage years!

Charley: You mention the song "Tramps" by Ron Baxter. Ron did indeed write the excellent words for this song but he then gave it to our own Chris Lock who added the tune... the result you know!

The "small world" bit of this is that we have this year added to our repertoire a song which we pinched from you! Who knows... "Mariner's Compass" might well get an outing on Friday!

Hi Michael. 'Refresh' means someone wants to keep the thread near the top of the list, but doesn't have a new comment to add at present. But I would like to check what time the club starts tomorrow night. And to make sure its not 'tickets only' or anything.

Just back from the north east.
What a brilliant night at the Pot House on friday. Superb audience producing some great singing.
Thanks to the Sean, Michael and David for organising the night and helping to create such a good atmosphere.
May this club go from strength to strength.
May we also say the Welly on Thursday was most enjoyable with some interesting new songs to us 'southerners ' from Merseyside.

Ian & Chris

What a scattered thread!

I finally managed to meet Steve of Fore 'n' Aft at the Otley Festival today and was very imprssed with his singing, and his good humor. And I missed his post above where he mentioned that he liked my setting for "Mariner's Compass."

Of course he didn't bring any Fore 'n' Aft CD's with him to the Festival. But I have his promise that he will mail me one or personally deliver it to my door in Maine!
