From: GUEST,Abdul The Bul Bul on his laptop Well, I seem to have cracked Jamaican Farewell and after 3 years Harry Appleblossom is on the list and for the first time in I can't remember how long, I don't have a 'work in progress'? (I'm not counting the ones I'm learning on the bouzouki because I've only had it a few months and the whole thing is a work in progress). Was having a shower after the evening dip in the pool (one advantage of a year in Dubai) and was wondering what you lot were working on. Can you tell or is it a secret? Al |

And an unusual version of Seeds Of Love I got from a friend (who is the subject of another thread). |

From: GUEST,punkfolkrocker I am trying to go to bed regularly before the wife's alarm goes off at 6.30am so I can wake up in time to get some sunlight in the afternoons.. Its either going to involve tying her arms and legs together and blocking her mouth with a handkerchief, or separate bedrooms. We've been together for 1/4 of a century and now the onset of her menopause is starting to wreak havoc on my body clock. On the other hand I may as well make the most of my solitary nocturnal lifestyle and catch up on recording my long delayed 1st solo CD. Can't say I enjoy wearing closed back headphones for 8 hour shifts though.. |

I'm splitting a concert with my friend Susan Trump on Nov. 14 in Springfield, Mass and Ed Brown wants to hear my "oldies." At the same time, I'm working on a new song I just started writing yesterday, and have been doing a lot of writing for a second book. I'm also getting set up to start recording a new CD around the end of this year or more likely, slopping over into 2010. Jerry |

Mainly working out versions of "Sam Hall' and 'Rounding the Horn' on the 5-string banjo in double-C tuning. Also on a version of 'Cumberland Gap' (from Alec Slater's modal banjo book), in which I'm trying to add some lyrics about the A-road north of Carlisle that the UK's cumberland gap has now been appended to. Also trying to mix and master an album's worth of my own songs - I'm doing a weekly evening course at the City Lit in London about mixing and mastering (taught by Andy Diagram from James, The The and the Diagram Bros). I really could do with being made redundant. I hate my job, badly need some extra time, and could probably just about subsist on freelance work and a generous redundancy package for about a year. |
