If you managed to combine the imagery from all those song titles into a single album cover, it would certainly be crazy (and amazing looking). I'll check it out now...

Wow, what a *lot* of arms. Neet. It looks very cheerful. Hope you sell many!

Thanks JesseW, for the comments and for the blue clickie I forgot to make!

Here's my first review, from Kathy Reid-Naiman:

"Children and the adults who teach and care for them will rejoice with Debbie Carroll's first book - 'The Eensy Weensy Book of Little Fingerplays!' This is a valuable collection of new and relatively unknown rhymes and songs from a woman who has spent her life working and playing with children. Debbie has chosen 12 fingerplays – small stories that are told using hands to illustrate the actions – and 6 songs – also fingerplays but with lovely tunes to accompany the words. Patricia Storms' illustrations are simple yet exactly what the rhymes need.

"The accompanying CD is excellent! Too often CDs that are included with really good books fall short of the book and are only good to listen to once or twice in order to learn the tune. This CD stands on its own and can and will be listened to over and over by children and their caregivers. Debbie's voice is warm and friendly and Ken Whiteley has used very sparse but tasteful arrangements to bring out the best in each song.

"This is a lovely collection and it leaves me waiting patiently for the Great Big Book! Please don't take too long!" ~K R-N

Congratulations, bw!! I knew you'd been incredibly busy with this project. Great to see it is ready to go. I'll bet you sells scads of them AND get another award. I am checking Morgan's Christmas list and, too, wondering if I know anyone who has wee-er ones than he.:-)

Kat! Thanks so much. The fun of working on a book over the summer is that everyone had different vacation plans - yikes! But we got it finished 2 days before a conference I had set as the deadline. Whew.

It's a happy little book sitting proudly on my music stand, peaking out at me when it can. There are pumpkin seeds, minnows, grilled cheese sandwiches, trains, bees, spiders, piggies, ducks...hey, this could have been written for and about my childhood and your childhood!

I do wish my kids were small enough to read this to, what fun it would be! I'll have to wait for grandkiddidles I guess.

The tunes are fun too. Happy and up beat, with chords and notes!

Peace, Mooh.

Mooh...now you've got me hankering for grilled cheese sandwiches!!

Thanks for the generous comments. You're a peach/pumpkin/duck... :-)

In response to someone who inquired from England...

THE EENSY WEENSY BOOK OF LITTLE FINGERPLAYS: Book and CD

$18.50 CAD Canada / U.S.A. Post

$23.50 CAD International Post

$28.50 CAD International Air Mail

-------

My PayPal should be up soon. (according to my webmaster, who used the term "soon" loosely). But a money order works too.

I did some fingerplays at a concert this morning. It's always a treat to see the look on children's faces as they watch, and then figure out how to make their own hands tell the actions. So much fun! Oh, and I was performing with Banjo Bob....one of my favourite sidekicks.

thanks so much maeve!

I should mention that I am coming out with a hardcover version of the book in a few weeks - I'm going to see the designer next week to adjust what needs adjusting for the whole shebang to go to the printer. And CDs need to be made...

And I am seriously thinking of making a series of Eensy Weensy books, now that I've got the first one made. One always needs a lifelong project!

Oh, a series of books is a rockin' idea. (I recently gave 2 lullaby cds of classic Ramones and Radiohead to a friend. A whole series of lullaby cds to the music of classic rock.) Series work. When our kids were small we bought so many childrens' books they liked as series. And, so often we wonder why some book, music, art, or whatever, hasn't been followed up.

Good idea bw.

Peace, Mooh.

Yes, a series, like Star Trek, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Dollhouse! (Now you know what I'm like in my Other Life). :-)

Or like Mooh's musical instrument wall. Wouldn't you call that a series, Mooh?

But we diverge.

The Eensy Weensy Book of Little Fingerplays: Makes a great gift! Like the Chia Pet Series....

That was one very quick trip across the Atlantic, Alex! I'm glad you like the book. Thanks!

Mooh...you will soon need to build an addition to your house for your instrument collection. It would be good to the economy, too. (Talk to greg. He'll be out of work soon. lol)

Can you bring me another Weensy Book? I want to give one for Christmas. Thanks.

Okay, PayPal is REALLY now up and running. (Apologies if you had troubles earlier ~ my websites are under reconstruction and the webmaster lives in another province).

So if you have any young children in your life, here's a quick, easy and lovely (if I do say so myself) present that should be able to reach Santa's request list on time. I can even mail it directly from the North Pole to the intended chimney, if you like....
