17 Nov 09 - 04:05 PM (#2767957) Subject: BS: Singing Dachshunds From: Little Hawk This is gonna be such a great thread! ;-) Yes, the little rascals do love to sing. They are inspired to do so by a number of things, such as: 1. the harmonica 2. the violin 3. a train whistle 4. a police or ambulance siren 5. human singing 6. bagpipes 7. Spanish guitar 8. distant coyotes or other dogs howling 9. anything at all that sounds doleful, wailing notes.... A singing Dachshund is a dog that has given himself over rapturously to the pure expression of untrammeled song. He loses himself in a surge of uncontrollable emotion that verges from wistful longings to sheer ecstatic abandon. Here is our first selection, a delightfully glossy and sleek young Dachshund who joins in with harmonica. His singing technique is undisciplined as yet, but his enthusiasm makes up for the lack of professional polish: Wailin'!!! |

My dog ran and hid upstairs when I was learning to play violin. The dog we have now has gone mostly deaf, but when I start on the Native American flute he gets a very worried look and goes as far away as possible and no, my playing, isn't that bad!**bg** |

29 Nov 09 - 01:13 PM (#2776142) Subject: RE: BS: Singing Dachshunds From: Rapparee Well, the girls were great. Did you ever see a dachshund jump about 3 feet straight up from a sit, and I don't mean onto something. They can. I scooped up Huey when Rose and Lilly arrived (threat barking) and he then went under the blanket and pretty much stayed there until the girls went home. Huey weighs about 22 pounds; the girls weight about 8 to 10 pounds each, but as I said earlier, they're rescue dogs and are fattening up as they get older (just like humans do, I guess). |
