Wabash Cannon Ball - Ron Bankley and Dan

This was my late dad's favourite song. So I wanted to do this for my mom. Ron Bankley took my meager attempt and added a pile of things to it. Thank you my brother my mom will love it. I don't have the lyrics quite right but this is how my dad sang it and my mom won't care.

Ya' know, this has been bothering me for months. I'm kinda' glad you went back to the way your Dad sang it. Its what folk is about........I'm sorry for ever saying anything last time as I do believe in that.....the oral/aural tradition........and I like this version more than fine!

Spaw,
I cherish your advice always my brother. I did this way cause I think my dad never really knew the lyrics so he made em up LOL .. this is what my mom would be use to hearing. My dad had a beautiful voice. Mine is a bit lacking to say the least but I think she will like it especially what my brother Ron did to it with all the neat instrumentation.

Jean always thank you

love Dan

Very nice, thank you!

The flip side of Acuff's orignal recording was, I believe, "Precious Jewel" which in my opinion is the better song - but not by much.

How about Wildwood Flower.... for Christmas ?

Now there's a song that took on a new meaning when I started growing my own 'wildwood flowers'

the thing is... it's nice to return to music that I grew up listening to and learning to play along with..... without getting overly cosmetic or complicated....
Prine did a CD with Mac Wiseman a couple of years ago along these lines...
