02 Dec 09 - 04:11 PM (#2778872) Subject: Tech: Question about Mudcat/Amazon link From: YorkshireYankee I started to shop at Amazon.co.uk, put a number of items in my shopping basket, then remembered the Mudcat link to Amazon; when I clicked on it, I was brought through to to Amazon.co.uk (as expected) -- with a shopping basket containing the same items I had just put in (wasn't sure that would be the case). So here's the question: is that sufficient for Mudcat to receive the credit for the purchase -- as long as I actually pay after using the Mudcat link -- or do I need to empty my basket and refill it again (a bit tedious, but I'm willing to do it if it's the difference between Mudcat getting credit or not)? Does anyone know? Cheers, YY |
02 Dec 09 - 06:07 PM (#2779003) Subject: RE: Tech: Question about Mudcat/Amazon link From: katlaughing I think if you signed into an accoount at amazon.uk, it wouldn't matter and Mudcat would get the cut, but if you clicked out and the items were still there without an actual membership, probably not? Actually I have no idea, but I know if I sign in at amazon.us, it will keep things in my basket even after I've left the site, then the next time I go there, however I get there, they are waiting for me to purchase. Hope that is clearer than mud and someone else actually knows. it is a good question!:-) |
02 Dec 09 - 07:08 PM (#2779055) Subject: RE: Tech: Question about Mudcat/Amazon link From: Joe Offer I think I tested this with Max a number of years ago, and it worked. But just to be sure, I close all Amazon browser windows and go back into Amazon with a Mudcat link - and then purchase what's remaining in my shopping cart. I almost always go to Amazon through Amazon.mudcat.org, just to be sure. I have double-checked with Max when I've made major purchases, and Mudcat has always received payment on the items I checked. -Joe- |

Yes, ideally I'd have started the Amazon session by going through the Mudcat link, but -- unfortunately -- spaced until I already had a fair number of items in my shopping cart. And Kat -- even though you didn't know the answer, I appreciate your helpfulness. Cheers, YY |

[/quote] Depends on which Amazon scheme has been signed up for and total sales in the month. Not sure if it varies by product type. You can read the details for yourself on the Amazon web site. |
