04 Dec 09 - 01:53 PM (#2780681) Subject: RE: Professional Mandolin Instructor LOL From: Willie-O Without casting any aspersions, I believe the gentleman is a bit on the dyslexic side. A lot of people pick up a mando or guitar and are confused that the "top" string is physically at the bottom and vice versa...an instructor's job is to get them straightened out on that on day 1, not confuse them more! As for why he's naming all the notes on the descending chromatic scale while playing the ascending one...that I believe is the rare mando-dyslexia kicking in. However there's no reason to be showing this to a beginning player anyway. I feel kind of bad for him--but when I see some of his vids have a quarter-million viewers, I feel bad for THEM. W-O |
