I spotted the venerable jOhn this morning going round Walton street market muttering to himself; "set o'bastarss, set o' rotten bastarrs"

Seeing he was a litle distressed I took the old chap for a spot of breakfast, and when prompted about his silence on the 'cat he said he had been between jobs and was moving to a new set of chambers. A little difficulty with his employer the landlord was indicated.

He said he had now took up a new carreer as air traffic controller with a fleet of 'ull air taxis and was looking forward to a guid christmas in the 'ull latin quarter with his new best friend Fat george the taxi driver. He has asked me to wish all of you a merry xMas and a hAPppy new year9.

One of the select few whose posts have fundamentally shaped the character of this place, Sir jOhn9 is badly missed these days (by me, at least) so it is a real pleasure to know he is OK(ish)   Thanks for the news, Mick, and let's hope he revisits us soon.
