17 Dec 09 - 09:28 AM (#2790304) Subject: BS: 2 Full Bred Labs for Adoption From: SINSULL Some friends here are moving overseas and can't take their pets - one black and one yellow lab. The dogs are almost three years old, well trained and inseparable. Picture available. Lab Rescue will place them but separately. This is a last ditch effort to keep them together. With four cats, I don't see me handling two Seamuses. Mary |

17 Dec 09 - 09:52 AM (#2790314) Subject: RE: BS: 2 Full Bred Labs for Adoption From: SINSULL More info: > We are moving overseas in just 2 weeks. Unfortunately, I have still not been able to find a good home for Cookie and Coco . We're not able to take our beloved doggies with us and I've been desperately trying to find a home for both of them 'together'. They were raised together and pine without each other. The Lab rescue have already said that they would probably separate them, so this is my last resort. Recently I tried to takeCoco out in my car alone and she TOTALLY refused to even get into the car without Cookie!!!! > > She absolutely pulled back on her haunches until Cookie was by her side.. > > Both doggies are in great health, have been spayed and have ID chips implanted under the skin. > > Cookie turned 3 December 10th and Coco turned 3 April 1st. Cookie is my mellow-yellow, and just loves her tummy rubbed. Coco is adorably funny and lives for her "ball." She also loves the water...... Cookie loves lots of attention. Both doggies are loyal and love to walk. They have been raised with my 3 kids running around all over the place, and have survived Sammy's constant hugging and love of 'dress-up', so they are fantastic family dogs. This is by far one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make, but under the circumstances I have no choice. > > Please, please forward these pics to all your friends. I want to find a great home for these fabulous doggies. They are just adorable and it's heartbreaking to let them go. In a perfect world, I hope that we could find someone local so that we can still keep in touch and visit them. I pray that someone, somewhere can help us keep Cookie and Coco together, and love them just as much as we do. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart |

17 Dec 09 - 11:37 AM (#2790385) Subject: RE: BS: 2 Full Bred Labs for Adoption From: Stilly River Sage I third that--Kendall and Jacqui to the rescue! Please! Maybe we need a Mudcat collection to pay for food. . . And SINS will dog sit all three when needed (she's clearly 3/4 of the way in love with these dogs already). My two dogs weren't raised together, but when I brought Poppy home as a pup from the humane society, Cinnamon, a big pup herself, was beside herself to be able to interact. Poppy had to stay quiet for a week after her surgery (spay) so my solution was to get a large kennel and at night I let Cinnamon in and she slept in the same room with Poppy, with Poppy in the cage. Now if they're separated they go ballistic--and the idea of separating them is a heart breaker. Good luck finding a home for them together. I see them down at the humane society every so often, in the same cage, asking the go together. It can happen. My girls (a few photos). SRS |

I've got lots of room! Actually I used to rescue animals by multiples when I lived on a little land I have in Oregon. Everything from dogs and cats to a goat and monkeys. Everybody for miles around knew that I was a softheaded touch. I exaggerate- but not by much. |

17 Dec 09 - 02:01 PM (#2790551) Subject: RE: BS: 2 Full Bred Labs for Adoption From: GUEST,Philippa why are you so sure labrador rescue won't find CoCo and Cookie a home together? it usually is harder to place a pair of dogs than one dog (who may go to a home where they already have one or more dogs) but it's not impossible. also have you looked for dog lovers' sites to post similar messages on, including any that specialise in retrievers (you could join a labrador and/or all-retriever/gun dog yahoo group for instance) if doing a private adoption be careful who you rehome to and do ask for some donation (which could go to an animal rescue group perhaps) If you are going overseas it would be good to have a rescue group to be a backup to take the dogs if the adoption doesn't work out for any reason |

18 Dec 09 - 09:16 AM (#2791162) Subject: RE: BS: 2 Full Bred Labs for Adoption (Maine) From: kendall There are too many idiots who think they can just turn a domestic animal loose when their short attention span tires of them. Summer people are the worst, they come here in June, get a dog or cat and then just leave them by the roadside on their way out of the state. I have no use for such bastards. |

18 Dec 09 - 11:02 AM (#2791239) Subject: RE: BS: 2 Full Bred Labs for Adoption (Maine) From: SINSULL Agreed, Kendall. It happens every year at colleges. Kids get a kitten or a puppy and turn it loose when time comes to return home. They actually think that an animal that his pampered and fed since birth knows instinctively how to survive in the wild. |

19 Dec 09 - 10:26 AM (#2791995) Subject: RE: BS: 2 Full Bred Labs for Adoption (Maine) From: SINSULL This is really embarrassing but my manager just fessed up Friday. There were indeed two labs named Cookie and Cocoa in California who needed a home - in June. They were placed together and live happily corresponding regularly with their previous owners overseas. He does not know who sent him the story, why or how because it came from a local school teacher. I should have Snoped it when I first saw it but was told it was his friend. A search on the story shows that the poor woman is still being bombarded with offers to take the dogs as her plea circles the net. Doesn't change the fact that we are all good people. Now I will retreat quietly to the CELLAR! Sorry. SINS |
