Just as in the old Certs commercials, you're both right. But Gwynn was first and better.

ACTUALLY-----There are THREE movies of "Miracle on 34th Street"...................

The first was in 1947 with Gwenn and then the 1994 version with Attenborough. But there was also a full length TV movie in 1973 with Sebastian Cabot as Kris with Jane Alexander and David Hartmann in the featured roles. Truthfully, it was really good with an excellent cast and if I didn't have such a soft spot for the original, I rate it better.

Christmas always starts for me with one of the three greats: Miracle on 34th Street, The Bishops Wife or It's a Wonderful Life though, truth to tell, I will watch any old toot that has Christmas in the title.

I live in New York and can never watch this movie without thinking, "How could they give up that great apartment on Central Park West?"

And brava Thelma Ritter!
