Mary Humphreys and Anahata

Mary Humphreys: Vocals, English Concertina, Banjo

Anahata: Cello, Anglo Concertina, Melodeons

Mary Humphreys and Anahata are established on the British folk scene as enthusiastic and entertaining performers of traditional material. With extensive research, skilled musicianship and a huge variety of instruments they have unearthed and brought back to vivid life some rare gems of English song and music. They are continually busy at festivals and folk clubs, with concert performances, workshops and presentations, playing for dancers such as Pig Dyke Molly and collaborating with other artists from time to time. They have made four albums of their music, the latest, "Cold Fen" released in March 2009. Mary sings traditional songs, mostly in English and a few in her native Welsh, and plays banjo and concertina. Anahata accompanies with melodeons, concertina and cello, and they play instrumental arrangements, mostly of English traditional music. They also play for ceilidhs, as a duo (Four Hand Band), a trio (Ethel's Cats) or in bands Fendragon and English Rebellion. The bar will be open

Ember

Emily Williams (left) : songs, vocals, violin, guitar, whistle, bouzouki

Rebecca Sullivan (right) : songs, vocals, guitar, harmonica, clarinet

Since a chance meeting in a hostel in Barcelona in 2000, the unique acoustic magic of Ember has delighted audiences all over the world – from California to Mexico, Ireland to Spain. Now based in Wales, where they have recorded all four of their albums, Ember has recently caused a stir at Broadstairs, Priddy, Glastonbury, Llangollen Fringe, Big Green Gathering, Warwick, Otley, Fishguard Folk Festival and Sesiwn Fawr, amongst other festivals, as well as folk clubs all over the UK.
The simple yet moving music centres around the miraculous blending of two very different voices: that of Welsh songstress Emily Williams, who also sails through the mix with her violin and sets up chunky rhythms with her nylon-strung guitar, and that of Rebecca Sullivan of Utah who fingerpicks a sparkling steel-string, and breaks out the harmonica for a song or two. . .
Engaging and humorous performers, Emily and Rebecca build a natural repartee with the audience - in true troubadour style.

Happy New Year
Cheers
Les Worrall

I thought I had already posted on this, but maybe not...hope it goes well, Les. I can't make it but it sounds a great bill and judging by the usual standard of Faldingworth Live events, should be another brilliant evening. Hope to get across to one of your events again before too long. All the best to you and yours for 2010 :-)
