My life flowed on in endless song Of pain and lamentation But a joyful sound above the throng The call of sweet libation Through all the tumult and the strife That gets my soul a-sinking The joy a dram confers in life How can I keep from drinking? Though doubting thoughts torment my soul Oh, if my Savior liveth There's none can shake what I well know The joy the bottle giveth.
