BS: Mudcat-RoundTheWorld-NewYear

We haven't done anything that's just plain silly/stupid in a long while..........at least collectively.   I think we're overdue!

How about this?

If you were here back at Y2K we did a New Year's thread thing that started in New Zealand and as the New Year came in "around the world" others came on and made a link to celebrations. Of course this year is just another year and not a "special" one so there are no killer celebrations but this could still be fun.........or at least mildly amusing...............

Let's try it. I'll start a new thread just prior to New Zealand's New Year and we'll go from there. Post about your New Year either in your family, local community, or nation.........Something that gives us a bit of "local" flavor. Something like, "We all begin every New Year by shooting bottle rockets out of Grandma's ass,"........ or whatever.

Let's also add an optional part-----"CALL A 'CATTER"
Find a number and call another 'Catter, perhaps one you don't know well.........or one you do. Tell us about that too if you like. PM for an okay and a phone number but shoot for an actual voice conversation. If you are really uncomfortable with this, we will all understand and its okay. Send someone a PM instead. I think that made the Y2K year a lot of added fun because there was a lot of calling going on.

Watch for the new thread.

Poor Micca. We traditionally call him at midnight Mudcat time to wish him a happy new year. LOL

I'm not staying up that late I don't think, however I WILL play as long as I am awake. Great fun will be had, I am sure. I'd forgotten about the calling, too! Thanks, Spawdarlin'!

We're going to be out playing music and feasting until about 1:30am and when we get home we usually crash until the next day.
Maybe if it's still going then....
But I intend to sing the Peace Round as soon after midnight as I can and maybe if I sing it every hour, on the hour, I'll link up with some of you.

I'm not gonna do it, Spaw, unless you read Mary Lee Foote's essay on the real meaning of the song "I Started a Joke". Look it up on Google: Mary Lee Foote + "I Started a Joke"

After which, of course, I will expect your reaction to it.

I think it's a great idea; I'll be at the Nelson Town Hall from 7 pm Mudcat Time until the party poops out (or midnight, whichever comes first!) but will check in and even make a phone call or few during breaks in the action (DH and I are playing for half the contra dance that night).

I'll be home as I don't go out. My suburb is Sydney's entertainment quarter & is almost impossible to return to on NYE.

For the last few years I've gone outside for the 9pm fireworks over Sydney Harbour - or what I can see of them over the tops of the intervening building! If I can get down the street that leads to the Harbour & one of the vantage points - Embarkation Park I can see a bit more over the tops of zillions of heads & cameras!

Embarkation Park is one of the places I go when I take my evening walk Night view of City skyline & Harbour Bridge from Potts Point

Anamiterra,
If you bump into Alouette Islin give her my regards, ok? And, Bob McQuillan. Tell him I love his CD. I tried to contact him via the e mail on the jacket but it came back undeliverable.
