02 Jan 10 - 09:47 AM (#2801437) Subject: BS: Barton Moss, Salford, UK under threat From: Dave the Gnome Once again our wonderful council wants to sell off the family jewels. For those that do not know Barton Moss is a unique environment and one of the only remaining areas of wetland moss in the area. A haven for wildlife, agriculture and leisure. Because the council know tha they will always get elected they believe they can do what the hell they want. The saying is that if you put a red rosette on a pig in Salford it would get on the council. I can confirm that it has already happened on a number of occasions:-) Help to show then the error of their ways and sign the petition - Barton Moss Cheers DeG |

02 Jan 10 - 10:03 AM (#2801444) Subject: RE: BS: Barton Moss, Salford, UK under threat From: GUEST,Shimrod Remind them that 2010 is the UN International Year of Biodiversity. Also that under Section 40 of the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act, 2006 they have a LEGAL obligation to protect biodiversity. Barton Moss is not the only green and biodiverse space around Manchester to be threatened this year. Chorlton Meadows and Heaton Park are threatened with horrendous, floodlit sporting monstrosities and the new Metrolink route through South Manchester will destroy (has already destroyed) much wildlife. Manchester Council seems to think that all they have to do to make up for such losses is to plant a few trees. "Because the council know tha they will always get elected they believe they can do what the hell they want. The saying is that if you put a red rosette on a pig in Salford it would get on the council. I can confirm that it has already happened on a number of occasions:-)" This is true of Manchester too! |

It would be a massive loss. I've signed the petition and I'm getting family and friends involved too. Thank for bringing it to my attention |

Not only was it an unusual name but the buses only occasionaly ran there! :D |
