Does anyone have the lyrics to the E.C. Ball song - I Want to Live?

phyllis--it would help lots if you could quote any lines you do have.

Well, this is what I hear:

I WANT TO LIVE
(as recorded by E.C. Ball)

I want to live (I want to live)
Each day O Lord (Each day O Lord)
A life that's good (A life that's good)
And true.
I want to walk (I want to walk)
A holy way (The holy way)
As Christians all (As Christians all)
Should do

And when at last (continue repeat pattern)
In heaven's land
A crown of life
I'll wear
I will be blessed (?)
I'll live for thee (?)
In this old world
Of care.

I feel my need
Of thee, dear Lord
When I am weak
And old (?)
I could not take
Another step
Except thou lead
Me on.

And when at last
In heaven's land
A crown of life
I'll wear
I will be blessed (?)
I'll live for thee (?)
In this old world
Of care.

I put my trust
In thee O Lord
For all the things
I need
I think I think (?)
A verdant sky (?)
And homeward bound
Shall be

And when at last
In heaven's land
A crown of life
I'll wear
I will be blessed (?)
I'll live for thee (?)
In this old world
Of care.

from the E.C. Ball Through the Years CD compilation CD

I transcribed this by ear, and I'm not completely happy with my transcription. Some parts are downright absurd, like "verdant skies."

last.fm may play the song for you - if you're in the right place in the world.

Or you can buy it at eMusic, Amazon, etc. The whole album is worthwhile, though I think eMusic should have put this on their deal list. 28 credits for 28 tracks, including a bunch of short ones is a bit much. That guarantees that I'll cherry pick or bypass them entirely and buy the CD if I like it enough.

The original Chuck Wagon Gang band used to do this song- I remember how one high tenor line soared, which E. C. Ball's group doesn't do. But thanks for taking me back...

In the vernacular, I ain't comin' up with squat--which really means I AM comin' up with squat.

According to Allmusic.com, I WANT TO LIVE, recorded by E. C. Ball, was written by Pat R. Baxter and L. S. Skinner.

Other people have written songs with the same title, for example, John Denver.
