Just in case anyone happens to be in the area, it would be lovely if you could come along to Lewes Saturday Folk Club on Saturday 9th January where I'll be singing a few songs during the evening. As it says in the program, there'll be plenty of chances for floorspots so I'm sure there'll be some wonderful singing!!!

But if you're in the area the following weekend, there's an all-day sing at Barcombe on Saturday 16th January, it's always a fabulous event, so please put that in your diaries.

Hope to see & hear you either on the 9th or the 16th!

Hil's web-page - a bit basic, but you'll get the idea....

Looking forward to it.

Me too. Suzanne plans to be with us so we should manage a couple of numbers from Spare Parts.

Lewes weather forecast this week...

I'm also hoping to get along - all depends on the snow. We'll probably get more snow in my neck of Sussex than in Lewes, but let's see what happens...

We have cancelled our concert on Saturday at Faldingworth Live. The weather isn't that great and the forecast isn't any better. We felt for safety reason, it would be better to postpone to another date, when the weather is better.

Give my regards to the Victory. I never tire of going round it, or walking by the dockyard and the Hard. And have a tot of Pusser's for me.

Hey Terry, you could always hitch a lift with us, but then you'd probably need to beg for board *grin*

I'm really hoping that we'll be OK with the weather for Saturday, I've been looking forward to singing at Lewes for such a long time. But on the other hand, if it's at all unsafe to travel, I wouldn't want anyone taking any risks!

There's heavy snow here which cut our tunes session in the John Harvey Tavern short last night; more is forecast today. With luck it will have cleared by the weekend, but we'll keep you posted.

Unfortunately, Lewes is 2 hours away from us. Pity. Such a lovely little place. Plan to do a bit of camping there abouts this summer.

Sock it to 'em Hils. Your set at Bedworth was superb!

Too far in these conditions, but Lewes is definitely somewhere Christine and I should come and do a spot sometime.

You'll all have a great evening with MGAS, I'm sure.

Virgina, if you'd like to camp at Lewes try Spring Barn Farm Park (but not this weekend).

P.S. Singing Referee - floor singers are always welcome at the Lewes Saturday club, and if necessary the residents step back to give visitors a chance.

If it doesn't, we'll definitely re-book you. Deep and crisp and even at the moment, but there's plenty of time for it all to wash away.

Thanks for that Valmai, makes me feel a little better about the snow & ice, but I'm still hopeful for Saturday. BTW, I'm not on email at the moment, only PM's or phone, PC died before Christmas and am borrowing a dear friend's lap-top occasionally.

The WX is looking too dodgy to go ANYWHERE this weekend....Looks like my visit to Number 4 Boathouse's largest (External) exhibit is a Duff Budgie !

Just had a word with Hils after discussing it with the rest of the committee and we've sadly decided we have to cancel. The club won't go ahead at all. We'll fix up another date as soon as we can.

It's just started snowing again here.

Well, after the Lewes avalanche of 1836, you wouldn't really want to take any chances!

We've postponed our next Herga guest night (Les Sullivan, who was due to perform next Monday) for a couple of weeks... just hope the weather will be better then!

This weather is wreaking havoc with my social life!!! Such a shame we've had to postpone, but it's definitely the right decision under the circumstances. Many thanks to Bryan, Valmai and the Committee for making the decision to keep Folkies in Lewes safe and warm!

If you believe the weather forcasts, both Surrey & Sussex will be totally snowed in tomorrow. We've gone to extreme lengths at the Cottage by closing all the shutters on the windows which has already made quite a difference to the temperature indoors.

I'm looking forward to sorting out a new date to sing at Lewes, preferable on a nice sunny weekend when I can happily combine it with a squirty ice-cream hunt *grin*

So sorry if anyone's disappointed, I hope I'll get to meet Will Fly one day!!

Hils - Maybe I can scrounge a bed and a lift for the replacement gig .
I enjoy Lewes , but its a pain staying sober and STILL having to drive eighty mile home !

That'd be great Terry, think Micca might be up for that too. The begging for beds will be fun, but that's what wandering minstrels do!

I could probably put one or two extras up if it's during the university term time as my daughter's room will be unoccupied. (Bryan does the regular Saturday night bookings and I do the workshops.) I hate to think of anyone being unable to do justice to the superb Harveys Best Bitter at the Elephant.

Yes, we had another lot of snow in Lewes overnight and it's still coming down. Kitty's right about the Lewes avalanche; it killed eight people. A pub called the Snowdrop is now built on that site.

I might amuse myself by making one of Vicki Swan's snow lanterns today (photo on her Facebook page). It's a sort of igloo about a foot high built loosely of snowballs, with a small entrance wide enough to admit a gloved hand and insert a tea-light. My son suggests making a snowman with a head on the same principle, but adding a couple of rookies (Bonfire bangers) for that special Lewes touch.
