Greenbird Promotions first gig of 2010 is on Tuesday 12 January and features Ruth Notman & Saul Rose with support from Fola.

Ruth Notman began performing at the tender age of 13 in local folk clubs in and around Nottingham and Derby. In 2006 she was a finalist at the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards and released her debut album Threads in November 2007. This attracted enormous critical acclaim including Album Of The Week in The Independent and was described as "stunning" by Mike Harding as well as having four star reviews in Mojo and The Guardian. The follow-up, The Life Of Lilly, was released in October 2008 and built on the success of its predecessor, being described as "stunningly good" and "a Michelin-starred menu" with Ruth's version of Si Tu Dois Partir described as the track "they just can't stop playing" by The Guardian.

Ruth will be accompanied by Saul Rose, of Waterson: Carthy and Faustus fame and a nominee for the Best Musician award at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Fola are Andy and Kate, a Birmingham-based duo, who play original and traditional songs with an irish background. Playing mainly original songs, mixed with some Irish traditional tunes and the odd folk song, Fola's strength is in their engaging live performance. They have recently recorded a set of tracks partly at Pure Studios with Andy Seward (double bass and engineer to Kate Rusby and Eddi Reader) and partly at their own studio, An Seomra Glas.

Doors open at 8.00pm with Fola on stage at 8.30pm.

Tickets £9 from wegottickets or The Musician.
