From: Mary Katherine LEVINE--George, 1923-2009, 86, educator, activist, artist, songwriter, performer; under the stage name of "George Lorrie", he hosted the "Folklore with Lorrie" on WNJR and "George Lorrie's Grand Concert of Folk Music" on WNCN, WBAI and other stations in the 50 and early 60s. A father of "interconnect" who battled then monopoly AT&T, appearing before the New York Public Service Commission and others on behalf of the public and municipalities to hold down telephone rates. Died on December 29, 2009 after a long illness, borne with grace. Survived by sister Rosalie, companion Ruth, sons Seth and Jeremy, daughter-in-law Patricia and grandchildren Erica and Joshua.
