The press release re the BBC Folk Awards dropped into my inbox a few hours ago. The main categories not yet announced - the ceremony is on Feb 1 - but there are lifetime achievement awards for Nanci Griffith and Dick Gaughan. Wouldn't quarrel with either. If you want more details about the nominations, they're here:

Also announced ahead of the main event, there are special "good tradition" honours for Mike Alexander and Douglas Eadie, producers of BBC TV's Transatlantic Sessions. This is one, I regret to say, that I missed because of absences from the UK in recent years. I can find out, but does anyone know know off top of head if DVDs are available?

Good for all concerned - I have many of both of their albums.

I'm especially pleased to hear Mike Alexander and Douglas Eadie are being honored. Douglas was extremely helpful when we were working on the Utah Phillips CD - a generous and friendly guy.

And yes, the DVDs are now available - in the UK (said the Yank ruefully).
