On Saturday, February 6, we will have CALICO JACK here! Paul DiBlasi and Janie Meneely perform together as Calico Jack, combining songs about the Chesapeake with classic chanteys from the seven seas. Calico Jack website As usual, bring money for the musicians ($12 for Janie and Paul) and food or drink to share. We'll gather Saturday, Feb 6, at 6 p.m. for potluck supper, music will start at 7, and there will be dessert at the break. I will provide ice, tea, coffee, dishes, and whatever else I take a notion. Anyone who does not place the name: I first heard of Janie Meneely when I heard her song 'Twiddles' in New Orleans years ago. (The song is based on the logical concept that a sailor can have a lass in every port only if the lasses have a sailor on every ship; "There's other things to twiddle when your man has gone to sea.") I love song with harmonies and Janie and Paul do this so well! |
