Don't want to seem twisted, but I prefer hemp....(Cannabis sativa,, one of the original components of canvas...unfortunately, industrial hemp does not contain enough tetrahydrocannabinol to make it a psychoactive substance). So, I rarely get unraveled by using the byproducts. I once wrote a rope songs, called "Hey Jute" first line was "Hemp, we all want to bind the world" Never completed it though.

For those of us who live on the wrong side of the Atlantic and don't get the joke:

"Money for old rope" = a very easy way of making money.

"This saying originates from the days of public hangings. It was a perquisite of the hangman to keep the rope used to hang his 'customer'. The rope, however, was popular with the macabre crowds, so the hangman used to cut the rope up and sell it."

Now that I understand the joke, I'll think up a witty reply and get back with you.

A few pieces of the rope song lyrics that never really came together. May have to try the byproducts again:

But when you talk about construction
I don't think that you should rule hemp out
You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd like you to to test Hemp out

But when you want money
for rope with strands that break
All I can say brother is polyester is fake

You say they've changed ropes constitution
Well, you know
We all want good braided thread
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
We'd like to bind your hands instead

But if you go carrying pictures ofKevlar ropes used now
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know Hemp's all right

Carry moonbeams home in a trivet
And be a cooler cat than a civet
Or would you rather be a rope?
