01 Aug 99 - 12:20 PM (#101311) Subject: RE: Messages for Bill Sables--July 31st? From: Roger in Baltimore Bill, Hope you have a safe trip Monday, August 2nd. I just did not have the gumption to drive 6 hours to Conn. , party all night, sleep in a strange bed and drive 6 more hours back to Md.. Surely I must be getting old, 20 years ago I would've done it in a heart beat. I hope that you and all of the Mudcatters had a great time. I'm keeping you in mind for a guitar strap one of these days. Roger in Baltimore |

01 Aug 99 - 12:54 PM (#101322) Subject: RE: Messages for Bill Sables--July 31st? From: Roger in Baltimore No, Rick, you flatter me. I'm 52 years old and 20 years ago I would have driven. Now, 30 years ago I might've hitchiked. In fact, I did hitchhike to NY with my college roommate and then took a train to Conn. to campaign for Eugene Mc Carthy. God, I feel so old. That's ancient history! Think I'll go make some Jello (to eat, not to play in). Big RiB |

01 Aug 99 - 05:20 PM (#101368) Subject: RE: Messages for Bill Sables--July 31st? From: Rick Fielding Sounds like a great time. Rog, being the same age as yourself (but probably less mature) I started thinking about the last time I hitchiked. It was in France 28 years ago. My friend Klaas (a Dutch musician living in Canada) told me to put a lot of stickers on my case and I'd always get rides and free meals (made you look harmless and possibly interesting) and he was right. Doubt if I ever waited more than 10 minutes for a ride. Drivers would always ask "Have you BEEN to all those places?" Rick |

Although he'd been in the states for 7 weeks, I kind of hated to send him home. Face to face is more fun that email & ICQ or even chat! |
