Well there is at the moment but it's worth checking if it's still on in August. Not really a singaround but definitely participatory if your friend wanted to sing or can play. Helen |

From: evansakes I suspect you'll have to travel a little to find anything rootsy near Kingston.....they do have occcasional acoustic/folk acts at the Grey Horse Pub (which also hosts the Ram Jam Club) but you'll only see confirmed schedules much closer to the time. Ralph McTell has made appearances doen there in the past (with Alan 'Daydo' Davies' occasional band 'Good Men In The Jungle'). That's going back a few years though. http://www.grey-horse.co.uk/ I can also confirm there won't be any TwickFolk events during August....we reconvene the first Sunday in September when Richard Shindell will be the guest. |

However, it hasn't been operating out of Claygate for some while now - it's based in Hinchley Wood, which is actually only a very short distance from Kingston. However,the Ram closes down at the end of July, as do most clubs in the area, because of impending festivals such as Sidmouth, Broadstairs, Whitby etc, and re-opens in September. A little bit further afield down in Guildford (round about 15-20 miles) we shut down even earlier (end of May), but in our case it's because the club room becomes unbearably hot in June and July !! |

Kingston's full address title is actually Kingston upon Thames.... and furthermore it is not, and never has been, a hyphenated name (unfortunately a common error ). Strangely though,Walton-on-Thames a little further south is both on and hyphenated. A whistling emoticon would be good here. |
