UK Channel 4 @ 9pm Starring Julie Walters and with music arranged by Nick Hooper, the programme has already received some strong reaction. Chris' subtle playing, especially as Mo was getting nearer the end of her life is just haunting. Mos retort to Martin McGuiness, and Jerry Adams at a meeting was priceless. "Take your dicks off the table, and we'll start the meeting again!" (but as this is in the music bit. Chris Coes playing is wonderful (if uncredited sadly) |

Everyone else, down to the person who wipes the 2nd unit's assistant electrician's mate's arse, seems to get a credit. Wrong union, I suppose. It was an excellent programme with strong performances all round. Recent events have put Tony Blair's parachuting in at the last minute to claim the credit for the Good Friday agreement in a new light - at the time it seemed he could do no wrong, how long ago that now seems! I'd love to know the thought process at Channel 4 which went "Mo Mowlem - Northern Ireland - what we need is a hammered dulcimer!" Inspired choice, and choice of player, though. |

His comment was that in general film companies tried to get something for nothing, and would offer a listing in the film credits instead of hard cash. The trustees of the railway preservation society always took the line (railway line?) that they were well enough known amongst enthusiasts that they didn't see a credit as particularly useful publicity. Cash, on the other hand would buy coal to fire the engines, materials for refurbishing engines and carriages and so forth. Perhaps musicians not being listed might mean they are actually being paid for the privelige... Quack! Geoff the Duck. |
