session venue needed Lancs/Yorks/Cumbria

Each year I organise a one-night session in an hotel with an overnight stay on a Saturday night in mid-January.
After 5 years I'd like a change of venue. I need an hotel with room for about 30, with dinner, bed and breakfast and a large enough lounge (preferably a separate guest lounge) to fit us all in for a session.
We are based north of Manchester and so want somewhere within a reasonable driving distance, preferably scenic for walks on the Sunday.
Any ideas?

Their used to be some excellent pubs and hotels with B & B and catering for 30 + in and around the Yorkshire Dales

Green Dragon at Hardraw is always a good bet!

Sheffield City Morris use youth hostels. The Youth Hostels are a good choice on the grounds of cost. But need to be booked well in advance.

Station at Ribblehead. Golden Lion at Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Both been used by our lot and are amicable to a session in the main room. Not sure if they can cope with 30 as our mob usualy number about half that.

Hill Inn as mentioned by Les - Make sure they do not have an event in the barn when you are there though. The old landlord had a spate of running heavy metal concerts but I think the new one is a bit quieter:-)

I have a friend who runs this hotel in Ulverston but I have not seen it yet so don't know how it's laid out - We are not going until March.

Good luck whatever you find.

Cheers

Dave

I'd go along with IanC and suggest The Green Dragon at Hardraw.
It depends on what sort of luxury of accomodation you are looking for.
The accomodation here is pretty basic but cheap at something like £10 per person per night and it's a case of bring your own sleeping bag!
The pub however is fantastic with a great atmosphere, real log fires,a good selection of real ales and smashing food.
It's a real pub with great hosts who will go out of their way to make you feel at home and the layout is ideal for a large party.
So check it out first with a visit and see what you think.
Or just check out their web site.

thanks soldier boy - the website is currently under reconstruction but will pursue this one, although we would prefer a less basic situation at around £50 pp.

Yes, The Green Dragon is a good venue. The only point I'd disagree on is the food - we found it mediocre and overpriced, but we may have caught them on a bad day.

Hey - just realised a one-night session in an hotel with an overnight stay on a Saturday night in mid-January. Have you already had one this year then or are you having it late? If you are talking about next year I think you could probably command a good rate with that many people at most hotels in mid-Jan. Probably worth just going through a guide of independant hotels in the area and negotiating a good deal directly with them

Cheers

Inn on the Moor at Goathland is nice and further afield in Northumberland, Riverdale hall in Bellingham does great deals in January...
