The 30 foot trailer'd be best sited on the hard standing at back of hotel, as the runway into the field is quite a tight angle for anything biggish. We were there last August bank hol & there were some caravans on the field, but were smaller ones. Look forward seeing y'all! |

09 Feb 10 - 12:22 PM (#2834184) Subject: RE: EasterMudFolk Anglesey :Come on! (North Wales) From: GUEST,jeff Would like to apologize for the thread hijack, but figure that here would be the best place to get local info. My wife and I are in the process of organizing a cycling tour of North Wales in the summer of 2011. We're both musicians and have Welsh heritage. I can trace mine to 1670 and my wife to the early 1800s. We'll be coming in on the ferry from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead. From there we'll take A5 east to A4080 south. The plan, so far is to traverse the A4080 to an unnamed road(according to Mapmyride.com)that heads south just past Lon Faen Rd. on the left. This path, eventually ends at seaside. It's 25.2 miles from the ferry dock to this point. My question is this: Is there a ferry or contractor that could carry us and our gear from there across the Menai Strait to Caenarfon where we intend to spend our first days. We'd rather avoid crossing Anglesey to the Menai Bridge through Bangor, if possible as it would add about 20 miles to a long travel day. My e-mail address is welshdude2@yahoo.com. Just put 'Cycling Trip' in the subject line for those with local knowledge and kind enough to rs. We're spending a solid month. Only going as far south as Aberystwyth east afa Welshpool and back thru Mallwyd, Bethesda, Betws-y-Coed and on to and thru Angelsey to Holyhead. Thank you in advance for any and all rs and references. Bore da! Jeff |
09 Feb 10 - 03:25 PM (#2834366) Subject: RE: EasterMudFolk Anglesey :Come on! (North Wales) From: folkorbit Oops! I just twittered the Big Bull Bay Bash. There's over 3 million coming but don't worry I know them all. I can vouch for them because I met them all on Twitter. Those from the USA are asking "Where is the nearest airport and camping shop"? Will there be a Swahili interpreter for the Zulu contingent whom will be going on to the eisteddfod afterwards. Oh yes! Sue and I will be coming. Colin |

16 Feb 10 - 07:53 AM (#2840773) Subject: RE: EasterMudFolk Anglesey :Come on! (North Wales) From: My guru always said Mr Happy, can I refer you to GUEST, DizzyLizzie's post of 12th Feb at 02.23am, which mentions the last weekend of July at the same venue. I was assuming that this was the first mention of the 'Bull's Bay Festival' and that was the query I posted on this thread. As I mentioned previously, we are running our own event at Easter, so reading the thread title is not a problem for me. I'm sorry that you did not understand my post. Perhaps someone here has the answer to my query regarding the Bull's Bay Festival? |
18 Feb 10 - 03:13 AM (#2842697) Subject: RE: EasterMudFolk Anglesey :Come on! (North Wales) From: GUEST,Busy Lizzie Let me clarify THE BULL BAY MUSIC FESTIVAL. This is organised by Liz Rosenfield ex. Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival Director and festival organiser in her own right! Takes place at the same Bull Bay Hotel in Anglesey from Thursday evening (informal session for early arrivers)then Friday, Sat, Sun and home on Monday! All camping is free for musicians and joiner inners! The rest of the home cooked food is very cheap and available all weekend. great chips!)The hosts Jo and the family look after the campers and musicians REALLY well. Musicians getting a free and very filling breakfast each day. Caravan hook up (through the kitchen window) on hardstanding available to about 4 or 5 caravans. Everyone else - in the field!! As well as sessions beginning any time in the day and outside if weather good, there is a function room if weather awful, and a lounge bar with bands playing live afternoon and evening. All that and dolphins just off the headland! You can find more info on LIz's website at www.inanyevent.org.uk which will be updated as we get nearer! And there are some pictures of 2009. And of course I must add that bands booked will also include Mr Happy and his Misery/mystery chords!! Guitar Mal will be joining us too and more to be confirmed. So a 'warm up' session in April is just what the Doctor ordered!! |

The beer should be good too! |

Much nicer and usually traffic free. I've used the A55 on a friday eve. for weekends in Anglesey and its free flowing but on sunday eve. it's chock solid so its the A5. |

31 Mar 10 - 07:55 AM (#2876381) Subject: RE: EasterMudFolk Anglesey :Come on! (North Wales) From: Mr Happy Latest news!!! Severe weather conditions, in the form of heavy snow, are affecting parts of North Wales including the Bull Bay area of Anglesey. I have just spoken to Joanne, the hotel licensee, & she says conditions there at the moment are apalling, strong winds & driving snow. However, all is not lost!! Joanne says that folk are welcome to camp on the front garden of the hotel, as its more sheltered there, also better access to toilets etc. Also indoor camping will be available inside the hotel, in the dining room & function room. For those travelling on Thursday 1st April, the campsite & hotel gardens will be available all day, but the hotel is not open until 6pm. |

Wales so a belated thankyou to Mr. H. for organising a great weekend and to everyone else for good company and music. 13 Apr 10 - 07:23 AM (#2885466) Subject: RE: EasterMudFolk Anglesey :Come on! (North Wales) From: Mr Happy Apologies to all for my tardiness in not responding about the Easter sesh 'til now. As Seaker reports above, many tents, including ours, got wrecked by the gales in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday morning, so we had to pack up & leave for home rather abruptly, without having an opportunity to say thanks & farewell to everyone. However, the weather was kind during the remainder of the weekend & all the sessions were superb, thanks to the diversity of talent & entertaining contributions of the assembled guests. Also a big thank you to the hotel landlady, Joanne, for Finally, many thanks to all who attended to make the event so enjoyable with their excellent musical & vocal perormances. |

(North Wales) From: terrier Em, the URL you linked to works fine and I can see Mark's pics, but it was a different URL to the one Mark posted. Confused :) I hadn't realised just how bad the weather was on the last night, the gentle rocking of the van kept me sound asleep so I missed all the 'fun'. Mr. Happy, how did your SATLAV fair in the gale, it would be a brave person to go in there :) |

'The spectacular end to the weekend was Dave's tent disintigrating in the increasing gale but I claimed the bits to make a better porch for my large tent. Now I understand why its called 'shock' cording because've the price! |
