09 Feb 10 - 12:28 AM (#2833636) Subject: BS: Obituary for John Murtha From: Sawzaw HARRISBURG, Pa. "Rep. John Murtha, the tall, gruff-mannered former Marine who became the de facto voice of veterans on Capitol Hill and later an outspoken and influential critic of the Iraq War, died Monday following complications from gallbladder surgery. He was 77. Rep. Bob Brady, a longtime friend, said the late congressman's large intestine was damaged during surgery and an infection led him to be hospitalized with a fever. "There will never be another Jack Murtha," Brady said. "He went out on top of his game." The Pennsylvania Democrat died at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Va., where he was admitted on Jan. 31. The gallbladder surgery was performed days earlier at the National Naval Medical Center, in Bethesda, Md., which didn't immediately return messages seeking comment. |

09 Feb 10 - 02:34 AM (#2833662) Subject: RE: BS: Obituary for John Murtha From: Donuel So the surgeon stabbed Mutha's bowel allowing shit to fill his body cavity and he died of infection. Pelosi had a chance to name Murtha to the job that Harry Reid has now. She thought Murtha was too radical and likely to say something controversial. Reid is a milktoast disaster. Murtha would have gotten the job done by now. |

Whatever you thought of Murtha's political views, he was the real thing and stood up for what he believed in -- sometimes angering the opposition party but at other times pissing off his own. We do not see the likes of him in Congress anywhere near often enough. |
