I just thought I'd do a heads up on this. If you're an AOL user with a wireless router, you may find yourself suddenly unable to get into some or all secure websites (eg bank logins, payment pages, etc.) I've just spent a few unhappy sessions trying to crack this fault, and it turns out to be an router related problem which has been hitting users since December.

The tech support people are aware of the problem so don't despair! Should you want to do it yourself, the fix is to logon to the D-Link or Netgear router (type http://192.168.1.1 at the browser window then stick in the user/password - usually admin/admin). Then change the MTU speed (may be in the "Advanced" screen) to 1400, hit Connect then OK (may be slightly different screens on Netgear routers).

Once the MTU is changed, clear the browser cache via AOL System Information, then reset IE8 to the Default security level.
