Tech: Posting YouTube audio-only clips?

How can one create a YouTube clip that has only audio and a single static image? I run on a Mac and have the iLife suite, as well as Audacity (what I would normally use to make MP3 clips). Is there a simple way to package an MP3 file and an image file? YouTube's help center has no help on this topic.

On a PC I think the file can be prepared in Windows Movie Maker, I don't know about a Mac.

You need to find out how to import your image into your movie editing software and cause it to display for the length of your audio file. In effect your movie editing software creates as many identical frames as is necessary to display your picture for the desired length of time.

I use Linux so cannot help you with the Mac software, but I found out how to do it using Kino in Linux by a process of trial and error. I prefer to create a slide show with multiple images rather than display a single static image.

I use iMovie on a Mac Book Pro.

1. When you've created your sound file, save it as an mp3 and import it into your iTunes library.

2. Note the length of the mp3 file.

3. Select an image and add it to your iPhoto library.

4. Open up iMovie and create a new project and event.

5. Select the images option in iMovie and import the image.

6. Drag the image to the event screen and then the movie screen.

7. Alter the image length to the length of the mp3 file.

8. Select the music option and drag the mp3 from the iTunes section to the movie screen so that the sound matches the image length.

9. Save, compress and upload...
