From: melodeonboy I know this is not exactly the right kind of music for Mudcat, but I tuned in to the programme on Herb Alpert on BBC4 this evening. I thought I'd top up my cheese quotient, but it exceeded even my wildest expectations. I just had to share this remarkable experience! Music which was off the naffometer scale, "remarkable" clothes and haircuts, blatant miming, cheesy grins and a selection of tarts sprinkled around looking adoringly at the band. And did anyone notice the teddy bear? Kinky! I feel as if I've had an out-of-body experience! Did anyone else see it? |

In additoin to all the elements melodeonboy mentions, I was particularly taken by the fact that, even when there was just a bass player and a percussionist apparently playing, he still felt the need to "conduct". He can't have had much faith in them! |

From: Bainbo I thought, for their time the TJB were quite good fun (although I might have changed my mind if I'd seen this performance, rather than only having heard them on the radio, my dad's records, and the It's A Knockout theme tune). In later years, I rather enjoyed Herb's brief contribution to this number. You'll have to scroll down, press Play, and wait till Ringo shuts up at about 1:30 into the track. |
