13 Feb 10 - 12:31 PM (#2838222) Subject: Origins: Cold, Cold Grave From: GUEST,Carl A. Way back when I was 13 years old (1964), I was given a record player and a bunch of 45 rpm records by an older acquaintance. One of the records contained a country song titled 'Cold, Cold Grave' which had a very haunting melody that I have never forgotten. I cannot remember the name of the artist, and I have never been able to track down the lyrics to that song. The first stanza went somthing like: "Restless heart, all made of clay. Bless the part, in life you play. What lies ahead, no man can say... but a broken heart and a cold, cold grave... Just a broken heart and a cold, cold grave." Does anybody remember hearing this song or know who wrote/sang it? It was probably recorded in the mid-fifties to early sixties. Thanks! Carl Alexander |
