Now then, There's plenty of songs out there about cities like Liverpool, Manchester and Bristol, but does anyone know of songs about Bradford (Bradfud), I can think of Coming back to Bradford by Smokie and it's mentioned in the Yorkshire Litany. Any other songs and if you can include the words that would be brill.

Cheers

Mentioned in 'The Gypsy' by Mr Fox (Bob and Carol Pegg)

'but now they lived in Bradford, where her Father dealt in scrap'

Later on Ilkely is mentioned at the start of the journey up through the dales, along with loads of othe rplaces.

Bob Pegg is probably a good place to start as a lot of his songs are Yorkshire based.

Good Luck

Dave

Try this one. It's about Bradford, by a duo from Bradford. Stay.

'Doin' the Manch' (re pub crawl down the Manchester Road). And many of the other songs by Keith Marsden are about Morley, which is just down the way.

Of on a tangent - I like quite lot of New Model Army's stuff but some I can't get into. I think they underwent some sort of change at one time. They guy they had with them, Ed Alleyne-Johnson (I think)is one of the best electric fiddle players I have ever heard. His 'Purple Electric Violin Concerto' is one of my faourite pieces of music. Nowt to do with Bradford though so I will shut up now:-)

There are a number of songs concerning Bradford (Bratf'd) written by Jim Jarratt, The Man from Wibsy Slack. For those who do not know his songs, they are well worth checking out.
Quack!
