I've googled without success and, while I know I have a couple of versions at home I can't get at them for the next few days and want to info NOW! I've got the tune running through my head and really want to learn the words and to know who wrote such a wonderful song. |

It's on his first CD, Echoes of Mingulay. After he wrote the song he discovered that his grandfather had served with the Royal Army Medical Corps in WW1. When fairly new to folk singing I learnt it from Les's CD after seeing him perform it some years ago, however I still find it a very sensitive song & can feel quite emotional when singing it. Les has written several WW1 songs, all of which are thought-provoking, & as a result I've looked at the history behind the events after hearing them. Rosie S |

I'm sure I've heard Les sing it at Miskin but I've never seen the words. I do a couple of war songs and often remark how strange it is that we hate war so much but it throws up some truly wonderful songs. |
