But not in the USA, I see. I was hoping for Gamble Rogers, anyway.

What is a honeydripper, if you don't mind me asking? Roosevelt Sykes used to have a song called the honeydripper and I always wondered what it meant.Sounds nice whatever it is.

'We've gotta move/way back into the party groove/because these farmers and these businessmen /they don't mean the honeydripper no good"

Hmm, I'm not sure now. I went to listen to Gamble Rogers, and found it's about a Honeydipper, no r. That's a truck that sucks the stuff from portapotties and septic tanks. Does't fit those lyrics, tho.

Can somebody give us an explanation or synopsis of "Honeydripper"? Many of us can see the page, but are not allowed to play the video.

Well, I know a little about "Honeydripper" because, well...

It's a convoluted movie about a road house that some young musican comes to play and saves it from financial ruin... Right???

If so, then I have a monster "true" story to tell about this movie...

If it's something else then ya'll gonna miss a monster true story...

this movie trailer spells the movie name with and without the "R"
(dripper/dipper)

here is the blurb:
ake a look at the latest movie trailer for the upcoming film "Honeydipper" by director John Sayles and starring Danny Glover, Lisa Gay Hamilton and Yaya DaCosta.
Synopsis: 1950. Rural Alabama. Cotton harvest. It's a make-or-break weekend for the Honeydripper Lounge and its owner, piano player Tyrone "Pine Top" Purvis. Deep in debt to the liquor man, the chicken man, and the landlord, Tyrone is desperate to lure the young cotton pickers and local Army base recruits into his juke joint, away from Touissant's, the rival joint across the way....

the name honey dripper or honey dipper sounds like a nectar-eating
bird or some small marsupial critter....

or a kitchen tool to scoop honey out of a container

Okay, ya'll...

Bobert's "Honeydripper Story"...

I've known this ecentric geetar builder for years.... His name is Ted Crocker and you can Google him up and find his website which will substantiate the rest of this story...

About 5 years ago, Ted ("TC" or "Rockerman" to me) and I started trading emails about a geetar I kinda had in my mind and over several months of him cutting and sanding and piecing it together on his work bench we finally had what I wanted... My "Back Porch" geetar which is a 5 string electric with a slab of wood and a neck and not much else other than hand wound pickups...

Not long after recieving it and after he had shown pictures of it in progress all over the cyber geetars builder's world he was contacted by the folks who were going to make this movie and he built two geetars for the movie which were somewhat modeled after my "Back Porch"... Og course, both were called "Honeydrippers"...

So, in a way, my geetar was the prototype for the geetar that was used in the movie...

BTW, if you can find my "Facebook" page which is under either "Sidewalk Bob" or maybe "Bob Harrison" there is a piccure that was taken of me performing with the "Back Porch'r"...

Good story, 'er what???

B~

Nah, I play it thru my Blues Junior tube amp and it just growls and pops just like an ol' Tele... As fir it bein' dangerous, nah.... Well, I ain't played it in the rain yet... Came close 2 4th of Julys ago when I was caught under a tent playin' when the skies let loose but I was playin' somethin' else when that happened... I usually will only do 2 or 3 songs per set with it and then bounce to other geetars...
