California Hatching Hope is the title of the article

Lily the bear had one cub, and I refreshed that thread earlier today. You can hear and sometimes see her cub on the live cam.

There are two new eagle chicks in the Maryland nest to watch, and one in West Virginia.

Rats! I can't get my computer to let me into any of those links. GRRR! Saw a pretty photo of bluebirds though, they're gorgeous.

Open Mike-

"i saw the eagle turn the egg and re-arrange the nest today."

Be warned that this is only the first phase in what will become a fanatical obsession. Other phases include:

The egg is peeping!

The chick is being fed!

The chick is being abused by its brother or sister!

My how that chick has grown (after 12 weeks it's as big as its parents)!

The chick has fledged (flown from its nest)!

The nest is empty!

The nest is empty!

The nest is empty!

The nest is empty!

The nest is empty!

The nest is empty!

The parents are nest-building again!

An egg has been laid!!!!!

Charley Noble

Oh, and here's the link to other North American cam discussion with images of what's happening in each nest: click here for website

Damn, it doesn't look good for the West Virginia nest. They've recently laid eggs but the nest is almost totally buried in new snow!

You may not be aware that life in the eagle nest is not without its drama, or rodent pests: Click here for video!

But the mouse escapes to play another day!

There's been two more episodes of mouse and eagle mother. Here's the latest one: click here for video!

It's amazing how far an eagle can spread her wings while nesting!

The Mouse/Eagle saga continues into Episode 4, with mouse scoring feather and left-overs: click here for video!

This is an infra-red webcam that is able to monitor this nesting eagle all night. Some eagles have no privacy whatsoever!

Open Mike-

They're not always on. They do freeze up and need to be re-booted periodically. ;~)

But they do permit people with a whole lot of time on their hands to make detailed observations. They've observed great horned owls making attacks on some eagle nests at night.
