Wow! Back in the mid-70s I remember the Easter festival when it was council-run and we camped on the municipal playing fields and it SNOWED like big time!

Hope to make it at least for the Saturday. What goes on during the day, or is it just an evening thing?

Be nice to catch up with you, Ray, as well.

Raymundo! You missed a GOOD DO at the Station Inn Oxenhope,Dave and Mick Shaw made it, and had to take all the flack for your non-appearence.
I will round up the gang and let you know full details about uz Lankys stopping with you, but its a full LANCASTRIAN BREAKFAST (i.e.an English plus Chadwicks black puddin' off Bury Market),for me served in bed with a gallon of Guiness to start the day off right.
I look forward to enjoying some of that legendary Yorkshire hospitality.
Get it right and i may get Cafferey to help you with the washing up!
Chin up old bean! Scowie.

I will get the bath for the Guiness washing workshop flower, plenty of cheap price Guiness available from the "beer off" in Racecommon Rd

Me, I am happy to take you to my favourite breakfast cafe in Doncaster Rd next to NACODS

O I use ONLY the micro wave and NO fat of any description so washing up is not on the itineray.

My cholestrol wont stand it

So when you coming then??

[That'll see 'em off]

Raymundo, Fyrish did indeed attend, absolutely, Marjorie with her chello stole the day, and many a heart went with it amongst uz Lankies. We are thinking of adopting them.
Also Frank and Sheila Lewis. time served folkies whose contributions continue to improve and inspire,it was all much to our satisfaction.
It's a pity you could not afford the fare, but rest easy the next is a little closer to your golden acres, it will be at the Buffet Bar Stalybridge Station on the Huddersfield to Manchester line, date to be annouced. No dodging out this time Raymundo, or your credentials will be called into question, who knows we may even decide to LANCASTRATE you, and make you one of uz own!!!!
AH bi seein' thi, ah best skedadle! Scowie.

I was there with Ced yesterday (Saturday) and we had a wonderful time. Downstairs in the afternoon with the musicians - a totally diverse set of musicians and instruments, but we still managed to find tunes in common! then in the evening we joined the singers upstairs and the quality was really very good!

Well done those who organised it and if it wasn't for the animals here (horse, dogs and hens) we'd've stayed for the whole weekend.

I was there Friday and Saturday, and despite loosing my voice to a asthma/chest infection thingy had a great time, as did my brother Alan who was with me, and exposed to it for the first time. It's a great room to sing in, it reminded me of so many of the old folk club rooms that in the past we shared with the Buffalos and Masons, their decorations were always about, the accoustics were superb, and aided the singers. No gripes about the beer from me, of it's type it was good, and we have to be grateful for small mercies these days with pubs shutting wholesale. The singing was superb, good to see all the usual suspects were out in force after the winter break, also the music session was excellent and very difficult to tear oneself away from whilst getting a refill.
All in all, a very enjoyable weekend, many thanks to Ray Padgett for his kind hospitality, it was all very much apreciated by two Lanky stalwarts!
Cheers Scowie.

Not griping about the service and welcome from Alan and staff which was superb. I know the landlord really enjoyed the musicians downstairs cos i was sat with him and Scowie you are right about the upstairs room it's a cracker, I reckon it was an old pub 'music hall'.

Thanks for all the kind words

The upstairs room had until a few years ago been host to at least two Buffalo Lodges and they certainly had problems getting the buffalos backside out of the wall!! when they moved the horns
