Fiddler wanted in Suffolk/Essex (UK)

Hi,

I'm a melodeon player from Sudbury, Suffolk, UK and Looking for a fiddler to play some music with. Distance isn't a huge issue but a musician in the Essex/Suffolk/Cambridgeshire/London area would be ideal.

I'm looking to start a duo playing music from mostly Quebecois, English and Irish styles. Rather than trying to re-invent the music and make it flashy and complicated, I want to play the music with simplicity where the music is allowed to carry itself. At 21 I'm in a generation of young musicians who want to 'spice up' folk music and bring it to the masses by adding unnecessary arrangements and instrumentation - well my plan is the antithesis of this - I believe that a good tune can carry itself and that only two or three acoustic instruments are needed as the transport for these tunes.

The hope is to get some foot-stomping music together to play out at gig's and concerts.

Influences include... Gabriel Labbe, Phillipe Bruneau, Jean Caragnan, Jean-Marie and Lise Verret, Jackie Daly, Kevin Burke, Chris Wood and Andy Cutting, Mark Bazeley and Jason Rice, Bob Cann, Simon Ritchie, Martin Hayes and loads more. - you probably get the impression.

Anyone interested, or that knows anyone who might be interested, message me back or email me at otis_Luxton@hotmail.com

Hurrah for you, and best of luck with trying to keep unnecessary noodling out of the tunes! Whenever I hear noodling, I reach for my pistol. Shame you don't live nearby.
