Advice on places to go in Ireland

Would love advice on where to go to hear good sessions in Dublin and any points south and west as we wend our way from Dublin back to Shannon. We'll have a car and one week. Looking for places that might be open to a singer offering a tune when welcome, but it's not critical--mostly want to hear good music. Would also appreciate hearing about any favorite high points or "must-sees". Please respond before first week in April. Thanks!

We greatly enjoyed the remarkable beauty of Killarny National Park in SW Ireland.

Don't know about Dublin, but in smaller places we located traditional music by asking at the front desk of our lodging. Sometimes they had to ask around, so allow time.

Have a good trip.

Oh yes, and drive defensively.

And don't overdo the drink.

Good Lord! Search the threads and you'll find a lot of good previous answers to this question.

The question actually is: What do you want to see and do BESIDES music?

Well, that's what I want to know--what do YOU think is worth seeing. We're die-hard travelers and things historical, cultural, natural are all things we enjoy. I just also happen to sing.

I enjoyed bicycling the Ring Of Kerry, but also the Dingle Peninsula, and I 'member some caverns or caves in a park in that part of the Island (Southwest)
And in the vicinity of Dublin, Tara and esp. Newgrange.
Dublin also has one of the great museums of Islamic art.

Definitely the Dingle Peninsula because you will probably want to see where my ancestors are from -- Dunquin..maum on Morig?? especially. There is a lovely guesthouse in Dingle and the lady's husbands gives archeological tours..there is so much old history..like really old...ancient. I did not have magical musical experiences there..but I heard good music for sure..maybe too much flute...O'Flaherty's in Dingle is right around the corner from this B&B. mg

One week is nothing.... I'd suggest staying in one place, then having day trips. You could stay in Dingle, and then explore all the Kerry peninsulas. Or even better, do the same with the Cork peninsulas (less crowded).

And if like me, you love wild deserted bleak dramatic landscapes, you'll just head north to Connemara and stay there. :)

Only place I can vouch for is a bit out of your way ! The Ards Peninsula , South of Belfast ! Especially Portaferry and Fiddlers Green !!! Cracking Pub !
Even Micca has sung there !

If you are looking for folk music, ask about 'traditional.' (That's the term people used when I was there.)
