I was the guest at the club on March 19[yesterday]
I consider myself to have been honoured to present Ted and Ivy,with a special certificate and plaque.
Ted and Ivy have been involved in running the club fo 50 years.
Swindon Borough Council decide to honour their achievement with a special award and certificate, the award is known as Swindon does arts[arts heroes]there will be only 50 arts heroes in total.
I cant think of two more deserving people,I would like to thank Ted and Ivy,for their efforts and for the kindness and encouragement they have shown me over 30 years.
as someone that doesnt normally hand out compliments,I must say that I consider myself privileged to have known Ted and Ivy,and once again I enjoyed the club.Dick Miles

It's been a privilege to have known them for many years. My personal thanks for all the encouragement and friendship they have given me. I'm so pleased they have received wider recognition and appreciation.

Ted and Ivy are absolute gold, and it was great to find them both on fine form when I visited the club a couple of weeks ago. They epitomise everything good about the folk scene as it's developed over the last fifty years.

Keith and I are absolutely delighted for them - they are such lovely people and old friends who deserve everything good that comes their way - this included.

Congratulations, Ted and Ivy from Keith and Sylvia

Congrats, Ted and Ivy. It makes us youngsters - who have been running Llantrisant Folk Club for a mere 30 years - very humble!

This thread deserves bumping back up to the top again. Add my and Packie's names to the long list of those who loved playing at Ted & Ivy's club and have fond memories of them. All the very best wishes and congratulations from

We endorse the last comment and have always had the greatest fondness for these lovely and integral to the movement couple. The last time we were booked at their club,on a night when Ted and Ivy weren't there,we had to pay to get in because it's held in a private members premises. What a giggle!

Sorry CLAQUE, but you should have asked Eric to sign you in. Hope you only paid the £1 guest fee and didn't actually join the Milton Club.

Yes,to me it is the epitome of what folk clubs should be about, they are not just about bums on seats, but about getting communities involved in music.
I have been denigrated on this forum by someone who should know better, who described folk clubs as dingy pubs with two men and a dog.
well there are several organisers that are on this forum whose clubs have reached forty years, and I say fair play to them too .Dick Miles
