Shawl auction for Michael Harrison

31 Mar 10 - 08:23 AM (#2876400)
Subject: Shawl auction for Michael Harrison
From: jacqui.c

I put this in the music section to try and get the best coverage.

I made a shawl to raise some funds for Michael - you can find the thread about his condition here.

This shawl is made of acrylic yarn, which will go through the washing machine, albeit, I would suggest, in a net bag to preserve the shape. In view of the colour I've called this one the Daffodil Shawl - just right for spring and summer, very light to wear.

The auction will go on for two weeks, finishing at the time of this first post on April 14. I will refresh the thread daily, just to keep it in notice.

Bid high, bid often for a good cause.

Barracuda is blocking the pictures but I saw this one in person. Quite beautiful.
Opening bid: $10

It's the perfect name for the shawl; quite lovely, light, and cheerful! It's a beautiful shawl (with an Archie Fisher concert knitted in); well worth high bids.

Jeri - Joe was trying to put photos direct into the thread - I'm sure he can fix this when he sees it.

For now, here's a link to flickr

jacqui.c - I had no idea - what a wonderful thing to do. Let me thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm fairly well drugged right now, this being the week I'm getting another chemo dose, but this is so wonderful of you. Are you going to present this to the facebook page, Friends of Michael William Harrison, or would you like me to, or would you rather keep it within the boundaries of Mudcat? Please let me know if I can help. You are blessed by the heavens and you are loved in Texas. Cheers,..................Michael

Michael - if you could put it on Facebook that would be great - the more publicity, hopefully, the more money can be raised. Bids would have to be posted on this thread.

We were lucky , with Kendall's problems, not to have major financial worries to contend with. Crochet is an addiction for me and it's always good to have a good home for the things that I make.

I can't get the "auction" link to work. Are we just bidding in this thread, then?

Mary Katherine - that's the idea - just bid on this thread, which I will refresh on a daily basis.

Sigh....I sent Jacqui an e-mail with the HTML all ready. All she had to do was paste it into a message. Did she do that?

Here are the links I sent her - although you'll notice I changed the links into embedded images in Jacqui's post. For larger images, click these links.

I've heard about these famous shawls but never seen them till now, and they look super, just the sort of thing I'd like to have - saw some of the other bits posted on flickr too. Yellow just isn't my colour or I might have been tempted. Maybe another time. Fab little beanie hats too. Me want half a dozen in different colours!

Crowsister, there was a jacquic shawl (anthracite black) just behind you on my sofa when you visited on Thursday. It lives there so I can throw it over my neck and shoulders when I get cold.

Love my shawl.

That daffodil yellow is gorgeous.

You and LilyFestre need to commiserate. She is mid-chemo too and a bit queasy.

I tried leaving a message on her thread but my computer kept freezing up and then it finally died yesterday. I'm not all that well this week but we're coming upon a two-week layoff from any treatment and then we start radiation. I'll definitely get a line to her though. Thanks,...................mwh

Michael

It's my pleasure - I have the time and a certain ability that I am happy to use in this way. I've been very lucky in my life - many wonderful things have already come my way!- and I think that it is only right for me to put something back in from time to time.

Thank you all so very, very much. My wife, Kelly, and I send much love to all who participated - words really can't express how we feel. I am sure, however, that I will be spending much time - after we rid my body of this terrible disease - looking for ways that I can help someone else along their path as you all and so many others have helped me. Joy and God's love to you all,...........harrison

Folks, I have been waiting for Jacqui's auction to start (and close) before beginning the next one (that I planned awhile ago) with MWH's friend Mary Anne. Watch for it Monday, please, in the hopefully-fixed Auction. A Seamus Kennedy auction is planned for after that-- how cool! Catters Cooperating!

Okay, folks, after Susan has done with her auction, I'll start one to help Michael out.
I'll auction off a couple of signed copies of my book Clean Cabbage In The Bucket (actually I'm a co-author)and a few copies of my new CD Sidekicks & Sagebrush.

The book appreciates considerably in value when it is signed, so you should get an extra buck-and-a-half on E-Bay if you have the winning bid.

So get to Jacqui's shawl, and W y s i w y G !'s auction, and then mine and chip in and help a fellow 'Catter.

Hello all,
I tried to join Mudcat several times and keep getting an error message. Any thoughts about what I might be doing wrong? I have completed all the "required fields" but...
I really want to know when Seamus puts those items on auction for Michael!!
Thanks.

And don't forget the sexy in a smarmy way T-Shirt currently up in the auction.
Your own WORN Kendall T-shirt, laundered or not - your choice.
And a bonus tiny nun if you guess who borrowed my identity to post it.

Watch for a bunch of Maine Hideobilia with the added plus that I will ship it to the person of your choice at my expense. Inflict away. And YES I have Spaw's address.
